I average 27mpg mostly city driving

I get like 24ish MPG mixed.

You can get 30+ if you're driving like 90% highway.

Some of you guys must accelerate slower than my grandmother if you're pulling 25+ mpg in the city.

I drive all highway with the exception of getting to the highway. Which I do about 50 anyway. If you drive it really conservatvely and stay in "the sweet spot" what should you expect(250AWD)

That's no joke!... I get 23-24 in the city driving like I'm playing a video game with the "Current MPG display - Got toooo staaaay above 30" lol.... I can get 31-32 on the Hwy running 75 and 80 with no problem but 80% of my driving is in the city.

What is the highest MPG some one has gotten out of an AWD IS250

This isn't any kind of a record or anything, but I have never reset my avg MPG since I took delivery of the car. I now have 5100 miles and I'm at 28.7 MPG. I have a 62 mile round trip commute with about 80% highway driving. Traveling between 65-80mph I can typically I've experienced anywhere from 30-33MPG depending on temperature, amount of traffic, etc etc. If I'm extra careful I've had full tanks of gas where I was still in the low 30's when I filled back up.

Bottom line.....if you do a lot of highway driving I don't think the 250 (RWD at least) will drain your wallet.

isn't the AWD a rwd car with the ability to send traction to the front wheels? I thought the car was always RWD but if it knew you were in trouble it would send traction the front also.

The IS AWD is rear wheel "biased", i.e. it basically handles like a RWD until there is slippage then power is transferred to the front wheels. We have both the IS and an RX, the RX is front drive biased and drives considerably differently than the IS. We have driven both through two winters now (actually the RX through 3) and the handling has been great on both vehicles. The IS feels completely different in both dry and icy conditions, and you can tell that most of the time, it is RWD. Hope that helps.

How bad is the MPG in the winter when it is in AWD alot for the snow and ice?

Hi Nick, we got about 25k on our IS and the mileage since new is averaging at 24.3. This includes both highway and city driving (about a 30/70 mix). Also includes many trips over mountain passes (over 4k feet in altitude) in the dead of winter. I believe that the AWD is going to get slightly less MPG due in part to the added weight of the AWD system. We don’t have a good comparison, as the IS is still reasonably rare in our part of the US, and we do not know anyone with a RWD version. Also, we have lots of hills and mountains here so overall mileage in say a Midwest region or in the South would probably be higher.

We saw the mileage drop a bit last winter, but more likely due to E10 methanol mix added to premium here. So far this summer we have had (highway) mileage at about 31MPG and in the mid 20’s in town.

I really appreciate you answering me and helping me to understand different things before I buy the most expensive car I will own so far. This car slightly edges out my Honda Pilot(or the wifes..) as far as cost. I drive mostly econo boxes for MPG as i have driven 120 miles per day for the past 18 years. This car will see 2 years of that and then I retire and work locally.

Can you please tell me about your driving habits. Speed, jack rabit starts, aggressive or laid back

Had to laugh, sorry no disrespect intended, but both my wife and I are, lets just say well past the age of worrying a whole lot about what people think of us. Our driving style, even at our "advanced age" (neither of us will never see 60 again!) is pretty aggressive (I used to race semi-pro in sports cars). We had to replace the tires on the AWD at just under 18k as they were about bald (heck we replaced the tires on our RX at 16k as I wore those out too). My wife tends to get stopped at least once a month for speeding, fortunately she knows most of the local police/highway patrol force, or we would go broke paying her traffic fines! We are not gentle on our vehicles, but we do take very good care of them. Not sure if that helps, but you did ask! Hey just a couple of old farts looking fondly at retirement, and enjoying life to the fullest.

Gotta run, as I'm due home shortly and it's the cocktail hour! This working for a living sucks!

ave mpg is 21.4

just went on a 120 mile trip, got up to 29.8 tank ave, so it must've at least gone over 30 mpg while on the freeway.
