Okay, so, I was driving today with the AC on, and then, all of a sudden, this faint noise appears. In over two years of owning the car, I've never heard it before. I turned the radio off, turned the air off, and the noise was still there. After about five minutes, it faded away. But two minutes after that, it reappeared.
When I got home, I tried listening for where the sound was coming from, but couldn't figure it out. When I turned the car off, this strange powering-down whir appeared, like an aircompressor shutting off. I turned the car back on, and the faint whir was back.
The other strange thing is that even with the air off, there seems to still be some air blowing from somewhere, as I can hear it! I can't feel it coming out of any of the vents, but it's definitely audible.
I tried opening the hood, but didn't hear anything funny. It's only when I'm in the cabin that I hear it.
Any clues? Any old threads I can read? I tried doing a search but didn't find anything.
I hope this isn't something I need to worry about.
