Tire sizes for F-Sport wheels...
Ok, so i finally made a choice and i ordered a set of Lexus F-Sport wheels. Now im trying to figure out tire sizes. Specs on the wheels are 19x8 and 19x9 +40 front and rear. Lexus recommends 225/35 and 255/35 tires. Im considering 235/35 and 275/30's... do you think they will fit and not rub?

I'm running 275/30/20's in the rear with a more aggressive offset and I don't rub, so I'm 99% sure you're fine in the rear. In the front you might have a TINY bit of rubbing, but you should be fine. Worst case scenario is that you'll need to heat gun a spot or two on your fender lining.

I agree that you should be just fine. I dont think you will need to mod anything on the front. I had same tire size on my front but 19x8.5 and the car was dropped 1.6" in the front. I only rubbed twice going down my driveway in R...I have a decent incline on the driveway and one heck of a curb!?!? so right angle, ect...it may happen here or there but nothing major.
So you went a whole different direction from the other rims?

Haha, yea.. i was just seeing what was out there, and i ended up steering away from the VIP look. Mainly because i dont have coilovers. I really like the FSport wheels though, especially with the color of my car. If those tire sizes will work out, then i will probably order them. How will a 275 look on a 19x9 though? Im thinking the tires might bulge a bit. I like the way the car looks on F-Sport.com, and those are the recommended sizes. But id rather step up to a larger size if i can...

275 would look good IMO...I had 275/35 on my rear rims. Either 265 or 275 will work with that set up and many are running both sizes on the IS
here is a close up of mine on 275 (note this is 19 x 10 rim).
hope these help out I think it will look good and it will ride good also.

Haha, now im confused. (again, woo!). Im thinking of just going with the factory sizes then, 225/35 and 255/35. I wish i could afford the Pilot Sports.. but it looks like ill be going with Kumho Ecsta SPT's... And maybe some 5mm spacers in the future

I would go 235/35/19 and 265/35/19. 275 will be too wide. It is perfect for 9.5 or 10 inch wheels, but too wide for a 9. 235 will look great up front and the 265 will look great as well. Think they are both just 1 size up from OEM "recommendation". That is what I would do and if you need a spacer buy some 5mm and 10mm ichibas.

Problem is.. on tirerack, the only tires available in a 265/35 are wayyy too expensive.. Its a rare size.. Most people go with a 265/30.. but i dont want to lose the height.

I would look at different tire manufacturers web sites you are considering. Just because tire rack doesnt list does not mean that it is not available.
I would consider spending a couple extra bucks on nice tires, the tires are more important than the wheels. Michelin makes them in a PS2 and those are the best tires you can get pretty much for a non 200mph car. If you can't afford the tires because of the wheels, I would suggest getting cheaper wheels.
