My Camaro runs 245 and they are 8". If you can run 245 on 8" you can run more then 255 on 8.5". 275 might be pushing it a little it might depend on the manufacture of the tire.
they all vary even though they say the same sizes. kind of like shoes. Wait tires and rims are shoes on a car.

Just remember that there is a dependancy between rim and tire, a 275 on a smaller rim will not be as wide as on a larger rim. you'll get more sidewall in the end on a smaller rim. All tires are not equal either, a 255 brand x is not identical to brand y. Do some research, maybe ask tire rack for a recommendation on a "fat" 255 or a 265 that will better fit a 8.5" rim. Either way you may not get the aspect your lookin for with the stock rim.

The proper next wider size is 265/35/18. You will not notice the extra width ( about 1/4" ) but the height is about 3/8" shorter. ( depending on brand ) which I am hoping will help even the fender gaps front & rear, maybe even increase acceleration from lower effective gear ratio. I recommend this size for reasons above plus availability of tires in this more popular size.

I have 2008 IS350 stock wheels + tires.
What size tires did you guys buy to even out the difference in size from front to rear. I want thicker (more sidewall) in the front to match the rear.
Please let me know.
Thanks.
Eric
