Default 18 x 8" for rear of IS350?

OK,
I need some help with wheel fitment on the 2IS. I want to get a new set of rims, but I want to stay with 18" rims.

I found a set I really like, but they don't offer a staggered set up, so the rear would be 18x8".

I'd also like to keep the same tires as on my stockies, will the 255 width tires fit an 8" rim?

The offset of the rims I want is 42. The stock rears have an offset of 45mm in the front and 50mm in the rear. What impact does this have?

i don't think it will, your tires will be too wide.

wow thats a first... usually ppl with 350's want bigger wider rims/tires...

one bit of advise, dont rush to buy rims even if their cheep 'just to have rims', this is a expensive decision so make very sure you get what you WANT with the correct offsets from the start (spacers on aftermarket rims = FAIL).

8" is way too small for a 300 HP car, IMO. I wouldn't go any smaller than 8.5" on the rear, and wider is better.

8.5" is on the small side for a 255 tire anyway, and most tire manufacturers will agree with me (recommending 8.5 minimum, e.g. ER33, etc)

I figured as much, I did a little research and that is a stretch for those tires. I just really liked the design of the rim, too bad they don't make it wider.

Thanks for the help.

Actually, a stretch would be a rim that is too wide for the tire, a pinch is what you'd have

What rims were you looking at btw?

I was looking at the five Axis rims for sale in group buy forum, X5:F in black chrome.

I thought they'd look pretty sweet on the SGM car.

Right now rims aren't a priority for me, but I would like something darker than stock... I really like black chrome or gunmetal. My budget is about $1k, which I know doesn't get you much in terms of rims.

I found a local place that will swap out the stockies for a black chrome version of the stockies for $627 + labor. That seems like a good deal, I think they'd look nice on the car. I might just go with that option. Anything for the price range I'm looking at is just not a quality rim and I am not in a position to drop a lot of cash on rims at this time.
