[2009] IS vs. W204 vs. E90 vs. CTS vs. A4
For those of you who are or were in the market, which one are you or did you lean towards or between? (random photos)
2009 - BMW (Facelift) E90
2009 - Audi (New Body) A4/S4
2009 - Lexus (Facelift) ISxxx
2009 - Cadillac CTS
2009 - M benz C Class
For me this is a very hard because with a few mods they all meet my expectations just about.
These were my top 5 options. I know this is a Lexus site but im sure some of you are in or have been in the same dilemma. Maybe you have/had other cars in mind, likes and dislikes?
Share your thoughts here. I know i left some other cars out but feel free to bring them up if you considerd.

i liked the caddy the most out of all these. except that was second choice. had to get the is the caddy is 'cause I used to have an escalade. Just slap some 24's on the sucka and add some crazy stereo and bam you got a fixed up suv but had to sell it 'cause noone drives the stupid thing anymore. so i was leaning towards cts.

Well when I was looking:
1) Thought the IS had more luxury than the BMW, although BMW is a more involving car to drive.
2) New A4 wasn't out yet. Had an S4 before...great cars...but hard to go from an S4 to an A4.
3) Benz was really nice but for the same price the IS has comprable power and more creature comforts
4) CTS V6 AWD is EXPENSIVE...its like 335xi price. Plus its BIG
Coming from a sports car that SUCKED GAS...I was looking for a really fuel economic car with awd and comfortable and quiet. The IS was the perfect choice when looking at those criteria.

I'm in the same boat looking at pretty much all the same cars. The Cadillac is out only because it's a GM.
While there are not a lot of replys yet, it's good to see on this forum people are not smashing everything outside of the Lexus.

This entry-level luxury sports sedan class is the toughest class in competition in my opinion. And here would be my choices:
For the optional engine choice:
1. Lexus IS350
2. BMW 335i sedan
3. Infiniti G37 sedan
4. Mercedes-Benz C350 Sport
5. Audi A4 3.2 Quattro sedan
6. Cadillac CTS 3.6
For the base engine choice:
1. Audi A4 2.0T Quattro sedan
2. Lexus IS250
3. BMW 328i sedan
4. Mercedes-Benz C300 Sport
The new A4's 2.0 turbo inline 4 has 258 lb-ft of torque, you can't beat that. And I personally think 335i's performance is the best among class, but I can't get pass its front look, even this 09 facelifted one. I think IS and G and A4 and C-class are too beautiful to tell which one looks better.

I've had everyone of those brands of cars, all I'll say is you can't live with a Caddy for 3 years. I was in the same boat, my choices were G35, CTS, 335, IS350, A4. I drove all of them liked IS350's overall drive comfort, would've been happy with BMW but the dealers in miami are a pain in the *** when it comes to making a good deal. Hope that helps, if i could do it again i'd do a coin toss between IS350 and BMW 335

These cars are tightly bunched at the top of the entry level market. the differentiation in any objective way is going to be academic at best.
I'd say the IS is the best compromise. Not going to stand out in any one area, the 2IS is going to be a close second in most measures. Or you can take it as the IS has the least negatives, especially considering reliability/dealer experience, which the other choices have issues with.
That being said, the biggest dealbreakers with the other candidates here would be the BMW exterior/pricing, the audi interior/first year of redesign, caddy image. mercedes exterior.
In the end, it's hard to really go wrong with any of these, test drive them all.

well... for me its really quite easy, i want to buy a new car to own until the alien invasion, whats the best most reliable cars to own? Japanese. Whats the best brand? Toyota. Whats the best toyotas? Lexus. What has a decent motor and rwd and i can afford to buy outright? is350...
Now of those cars on the list it appears many are dismissing the caddy cuz its GM. I suggest you guys actually goto a caddy dealer and look at one, this is not your old skool caddy that you see old ppl driving in arizona, no no no. This caddy is a serious contender.

too bad you can't spring about 25k more and get the new cts-v it's a freaking monster in every aspect. Incredible handling, incredible power. There's a reason it's now the fastest sedan around the ring by about 10 seconds.
