DIY Navigation DVD Update

I think the only difference according to the Lexus site ( http://www.lexusnavigation.com/wp-co...der-table2.jpg ) is that the West Coast CD includes Hawaii.

This may be a stupid question, but is there an easy way to tell what disc you have without opening it up? I just bought a 2009 so I imagine I could benefit from an update but I want to be sure before I order it.

On that screen you should see something like:
Data: ver 14.1
The integer part is the year that the disc was released (usually in the fall of that year). Your 2009 originally came with ver 8.1.

Press the menu button, and then press the "Map DVD" icon in the upper right corner.

No tool, nor a need for one. The 2011 IS has hard-drive based navigation, and has no DVD map disc. Map upgrades are done by the dealer using a special service tool (a laptop, but not Techstream) and a USB thumb drive.

Thanks for the response. I didn't know that. So I guess that prevents me from doing the upgrade myself...I'm guessing the dealer is the only one who can do the upgrades?
