Angry rain water >> stock tires

i just want to say how much the stock tires stink going through even the smallest puddles! the car would hydroplane like no other...only 5500 miles on the tires...

on my previous vehicle (96' ES 300), my aftermarket khumo 225/40/18 tires that cost half as much would go through puddles with no problems....I am very disappointed....

i'm having the same problem too on my IS350. I rarely bring the IS out if it pours badly out there.

Is this problem just with the stock summer tires? Have people had better experiences with a set of all-seasons?

It's also vehicle dynamics. The car is fairly light in the rear. Just don't WOT when it is wet.

if they are dunlops they are the biggest piece of ****s i have ever seen.....i got yoko's bc after 22K on the tires there were worn to the core. i got yokos on it now not one issue with water or snow compared to the dunlops and the wear and handling has greatly improved.

VikH I agree with you on the rear is light but that holds true on every car except the mid-engines and BMW since they have a 50/50 ratio.

I have the potenzas and they seem to be fine when i go through rain storms. might want to try some michellin

Maybe I'm spoiled from driving a rear engined vehicle

I have RE050's and you can easily lose traction with even half throttle in the IS350.

last time i check wieght distribution for the IS350 was 52-48, very close to 50/50.

the stock tires that are put on are worthless. and are very overpriced.

You can try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. It's more expensive than most but it's also highly rated. When I had the RE050s I had to slow down quite a bit in the pouring rain.
