Color matched to SGM would be nice, but I still want it in black pearl/chrome.

just a little rant.

I was thinking about this. who the hell are they to charge 300 dollars for a plastic surround?

I know they can say blah blah blah, molded plastic, factory paint etc, but really.

300 bucks? I was planning on paying 200 bucks for their emblems this week, but i'm gonna pass on that.

awakening moment. who in their right mind can really justify all those ridiculous prices??

I think the chrome frame is expensive unpainted, that is why it's 300 painted.

it is nice that they offer this but wow $300 omg I can have mine painted for half that. But then again I always run into the possibility of the paint not matching maybe one day they'll have a promo on it

I think they bought new chrome grill peices, then painted them, thats why the price is so high. Too bad they dont have a core charge program. Someone should ask them, becuase they can probably make more money by doing that and charge less to us and make everyone happy.

I'm thinking you can get the color matched touch up paint in a spray can for $30 or so. Anyone ever tried this stuff? I just found it online today... actually there are several vendors that sell this crap... here's one

300 bucks wtf... that's just freakin ridiculous. maybe if it's 30 bucks I'll consider it. Whoever gets this shouldn't really be around cars. and whoever buys this probably can't install the dang thing anyways. They'll probabaly be ending up paying another 100 bucks for installing it. Either paint it yourself or just stop doing anything to your car.

I've tried it on my grill. The color matches pretty damn close. HOWEVER, after buying the base coat, mid coat, and the clear coat, it comes out to about $80. If you're a true hardcore DIYer, go ahead and do it. But honestly I don't think it's worth it because it's really time consuming and you really have to know how many coats to put on it to get it to the right shade.

With that said... I had my friend re-paint it. Lesson learned.

Well, I was thinking I could just use a standard duplicor primer and clear coat, and then use the paint can for the base color. The base coat (car color) is only $30 after shipping.

Why did you have it repainted, you couldn't get it to match? Oh, and what color do you have? I have SGM so I think that's easier to match than one of the white colors.
