Geesh you guys are harsh.
While this MAY be a DIY (depending on how well you prep the surface and whether the spray paint will stick to the chrome), that is really only an option for those that have vehicles with colors available in a spray can that are close to the factory color. But, those with difficult cars to color match (ie- matador red, blue onyx, glacier frost) would probably appreciate a REPUTABLE LEXUS DEALER / CL VENDOR paint-matching their pieces.
Although one could say that Sewell is going to just custom mix the paint, or outsource it to a body shop anyway, at least with Sewell you get to keep your factory surround, and get the support from a reputable dealer who is a CL vendor. To me, that's worth something.
Worth $300, I don't know. I don't really care for it either way, as I personally like the factory chrome on my car. But to some it may be worth it. The same way that $250 for black pearl emblems is worth it to some. Or, the same way that $600 for 2 mufflers is worth it to others.

BTW, I'm not trying to start an argument, but at least have some respect for them, as they're the only ones offering something of this nature at this time.
Plus, don't forget that CL gets a discount.
On other note, though, maybe they'll see these posts and decide they need a price change in order to sell.

I dunno about body color, maybe a matte black/black pearl effect. I have the black pearl badging and a lil macthing wouldn't hurt it.
Pricey at $300? Maybe, but do it in black chrome and package it with the grill/badges for a lower combined price and I may listen. Black chrome surround with chrome grill would be weirder =)

I am going to disagree with you. Carson's OWN factory parts directory has the grill surround priced at $121.01.
Here is the link. Click these words.
When I had my grill painted, I called around to a bunch of local shops to get price quotes. The best one I found was a local Mazda dealers body shop. The paint match was perfect and it cost me $35 cash.
$121.01
+$35.00
_________
$156.01
Throw in maybe $10 for shipping (which you would spend on the $300 grill from them) and it can be done for about 1/2 of that price.

Well you would definitely have to sand the surface well, then it will stick fine. The problem, as with anything on the front of the car, is that it's highly susceptible to rock chips. Anyone getting this would surely want to put some sort of clear film on the grill to protect it, otherwise it will look like crap in a few weeks.
