The dreaded electronic communication issues came up. The dealer finally got the car running again this morning; it took them about 2.5 days. When I spoke to the Lexus service rep around 11am this morning, the car is running and about to be re-aligned. He said they will to the "PDI" in the afternoon and bring it back to the body shop late in the afternoon. I hope to look at the car Monday or Tuesday. Getting close...

Bad News and Good News (The end of a saga)
Bad news first...
When the bodyshop first try to give me the car back on 11/07/08, I ended up inspecting the car for 3 hours and generated over two pages worth of what's wrong with the car. They did not pay attention to details; missing screws, missing panels, scratches galore and etc. When I picked up the car last week there is still something wrong with the car; sun roof leaking (pushed forward or body is tweaked), windshield not installed correctly and probably leaking since I can see gap and bare metal where windshield & roof meets. There are more fit up issue. The major item is a bend seat adjustment height at the passenger side they try to get away with. I believe they swap the driver side to the passenger side due to rising cost. Initial estimate was about $23.4K and final cost for fixing the car which not yet finished is $37.4K, I was not happy when I found out.
Good news...
I try to file "diminish value" claim against the other insurance but was informed that since the cost to fixed the car is so high I will have problems and complications because the car should have been totaled to begin with. I informed my insurance (Allstate) and they finally stepped up to the plate . They will buy the car as if it was just totaled and will give me about $41K for it. Back to the original plan, will be shopping brand new supercharged Tacoma this holiday weekend....

I can tell you from experience that you are lucky you did not get hurt. I also had Allstate. I was hit from behind waiting for a red light and sustained a back injury and needed surgery. I don't want to go into details but I can tell you that Allstate REALLY SUCKS. I can't tell you what they put me through to approve the surgery. It took over a year to get an approval. That’s over a year of physical pain that I would not wish on my worst enemy. This accident happened in 2005 and I'm still waiting on a settlement from Allstate. All I can say is, if you have Allstate "DON’T EVER GET HURT IN AN ACCIDENT"!

Incredible thread. Not surprised that the rebuilt car had numerous lingering issues. Happy to hear it worked out for you in the end...
Would be curious to see a copy of the "Checklist" you took to the body shop. Posting a draft for others to see could help the next unfortunate CL member that has to deal with major body work on their car.

Yes, I'm going through the same thing here in PHX too... I have mine at Gerber Collision center, only about $12K in damage, but they had to replace frame rails and wiring harness.. Its been around 6 weeks now and seems like another 2 weeks minimum..
I'd love to also see that list of things I need to check when I pick it up..
Thanks!

It's official...Allstate finally gave me a check and they took the car back last Friday (12/102/08). This will be my last post on this thread. Thanks for all the help and info.

I just read this thread for the first time - first page to last. The outcome was no surprise. That car should have been totaled in the first place, what a waste of time, money, and energy. Good Luck to you in the future. BTW, I'm in Casa Grande and bought my F at Superstition Springs Lexus 8 days ago. Bought my wife's ES from the same dealer a month ago.
Again - Good Luck to You
