I still dont understand why people say they hate the sound.. If you test drove the car before you bought it, then you would have heard the noise. So you either heard it, hated it, and bought the car anyway... or somehow didnt hear it?
Its EASY not to hear it....My test drives were in January, windows down....didnt hear it until I had the windows down and pulled into the garage....I instantly checked the oil levels...

Actually that's how I felt about the navi, hated it (because it's neutered over 2 MPH), but bought it anyway .
I don't remember hearing the ticking, but I am glad to hear that it is not unusual. Thanks folks!
