here is the story:
I am about to order, tonight hopefully, a rear GFX lip for my IS. the problem is, that they dont have it in my color which is Starfire pearl. So I called the lexus dealership's paint shop and they told me that i could go ahead and order it, and they can paint it for me on starfire pearl (077) for about 200 bucks.
My question is: does it matter in wich color I order it? meaning that would it be preferable to get it a light color or dark color?
Im guessing it doesnt matter, but since ive never dealth with anything that has to do with paint, I figured id ask u guys.
thanks

Starfire Pearl is one of the most difficult colors to match. Even the factory kits have bad color match. With that said, you just need to find a reputable shop that does good work. I believe Sewell was offering to paint the kits. You should ask them.

In my opinion, you'd be better off in ordering it in a light color, and than painting it the desired color. It is usually easier to start with a lighter base.

I called the salesman who sold me tha car and asked him. he said they use this paint and body shop in town to fix their cars. the dealership does not have a collision repair center. So they use this shop. he said they do awesome jobs. I feel safe because im sure lexus wouldnt just give these jobs to anyone.

I haven't seen the kits but I'm assuming they'll be arriving with the 09's in a few weeks?

i was rear ended a couple months ago and went to the body shop that lexus deals with (cadillac collision repair center) and the paint match doesn't match all that well as i had hoped...starfire pearl. the lip that i received from sewells, which was painted, matches better than my bumper. i'd check with sewells first...

I ordered my rear skirt today from sewell at $190. in tungstean pearl. it was the lightest color they had. im guessing over a week or so to arrive, and another week to get it painted.
I also got the aluminum pedals, tire valve caps, and some wheel cleaner, and wax, they where same price as the mcguiars i get so why not. and they say lexus on the bottle hehe. same thing though
