Let's go back to the question, "What about the filter?", which no one ever answered. The oil filters for the IS is kind of hard to find...AutoZone doesn't carry them. Advance Auto carries a Purolator Premium Plus for about $10. I've gotten my filters from Toyota. Does anyone have a recommendation for a filter that can hang 15k miles with a good synthetic oil?

Why in the world would someone waste money like that? UOA has shown that's significantly more often than needed on the 2IS for normal driving.

The OEM oil filter has been proven to provide safe protection for one year even with 15K+ miles. Get a half dozen at less then $5 each (From an online Stealer) and don't even give it a second thought!

My next oil change at the Lexus dealer is this summer. I talked to one SA a few months ago about synthetic use in my IS350 and his response was useless (that's the last time I will be using him for anything).

I will try another SA next time, because I want to switch to the same synthetic oil as used in the new gen RX350 and go to 10K oil/filter change intervals. We'll see how that SA responds.
