Default Front Bumper Air Dam (GFX) Tabs

Got my front air dam during the Sewell sale and opened it to check out. I am planning to install without drilling the bumper so I removed the 4 metal tabs. Actually they pulled off really easy. Now the instructions that came with it are dated earlier than the instructions posted on the Sewell website in pdf form. In the Sewell instructions, Lexus refers to using cutters to remove two tabs: Using front ground effects from accessory kit, use side cutters to remove tabs as shown in Figure 3-1. This is not in the earlier instructions plus I really don't see an obvious cut point. Did any of you have to cut the tabs off as shown?

Also, the 3M tape for the sides seems very narrow with not much contact area - does it seem to be holding up for those of you who have installed this earlier? I do plan to clean it well wilt Lexus recommended 3M Prep-Solvent 70. Thanks.

Oliver

I would follow "Techniques" procedure. That's what I did and it came out perfect.

I ignored that step, since it makes no sense what so ever .....

I did not cut anything off of mine, just removed the tabs.
Also, make sure all the locking clips along the lip are fully locked in.

Yes, there were 4 metal tabs attached with doublesided foam tape. These were to go thru the two slots you make on each side of the bumper cover and secured with the included plastic clips from the inside. Like I said, they pulled off cleanly. The part that confused me was the reference to cutting away a portion of the plastic mounting tabs that are part of the air dam itself.

Use a little force until u heard the "click" or it's as close as you want. I dont think the 3m help at all because it's so small. You do not need to cut or drill anything on your bumper. If you line up everything and every clips click in, the gap is be very small if any.GL
