So I don't usually race, but occasionally I will at least try to be in the "lead" once the light turns green, as to get away from the congestion on the busy LA streets. In the past, I've never had a problem destroying most other cars on the road (including M3's on multiple occasions), but today I can definitely admit I was beaten.

At the red light of Wilshire and Sepulveda going west my side of the street has 5 lanes on each side; I noticed a mustang to my left and I didn't really look to my right at first. Then, the light turned green and I proceeded to press the gas most of the way, just to have a free road. Then, I HEAR the awesome sound of a CLK 63 flooring it 3 lanes to my right, so I floored it too. He really pulled on me. The IS350 is fast, but the CLK is clearly an absolute beast. The sound was incredible. Just thought I'd share.

 

I just checked out www.mbusa.com and I didn't see a CLK 63. I guess it must have been the CL 63 because it was definitely a coupe and a 63, but I didn't think it looked as big as the CL. Does anyone know if there is a CLK version?

 

There is a CLK version but it's not a normal AMG at all..and you would know this by first glance. The normal AMG CLK is called a CLK55, naturally aspirated 5.5liter but the CLK63 BLACK SERIES is a whole different beast. I've driven this car a couple times at the Benz dealership I work at and it is INCREDIBLE. It's a total track car with adjustable coilovers and factory wide-body with wheels that cost $10k a piece along w/ a slew of just nutty things. I'm pretty sure the original threadstarter meant CL63 because the CLK63 BlackSeries is in crazy limited production.

 

yea i second that it was probably the black series. that car is INSANE lookin/sounding/driving. Its not the fastest car in the world but its def one of my favorites. It is a race car, but also so comfortable, that people who buy could mostly use it as a daily driver

 

im thinking the CL amg with a bad boy V8..

It is all good.

Nothing wrong to be the slower vehicle when dealing with a true Mercedes on the road. Unlike most of the Mercedes today only have the Chrysler's quality.

 

ok good then i'm not crazy. it was definitely a CLK63. It had VERY wide flared out fenders, huge quad exhausts -- it was awesome looking and sounding and very loud. I didn't realize it was track-ready too...

 

At least you lost to a bad a$$ car. The CLK 63 is amazing. I'm afraid to ask where was the Mustang in all of this...

Yes, exactly, white with black. I mean I didn't have the best start off the line, since I didn't floor it from the beginning, but as soon as I heard the Lambo-like exhaust, I floored it. But still, he was probably going 70 by the time I was going 60; he was clearly inching away. At that point, I just took my foot off the gas because I can't risk getting any tickets and I knew his car had at least a couple hundred extra HP...

 

LOL. You are not going to beat a Black Series in a drag race. That thing is ridiculously fast and ridic expensive.
