Default For those who installed their own rear spoiler..

Hey guys,
Just wondering if you gys suggest using the screws for the rear oem spoiler.
I was reading on here and other forums and there seems to be some folks that are just using the double sided tape.
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

This has been discussed several times. You can look at the post below for tips.

I actually did the tape method and it looks like it's holding strong. The spoiler does not move at all, but I've only had it on for about a week and I haven't even washed my car after that. I've heard that people have had it on with tape for years. We'll see what happens.

It'll be fine w/ just double-sided tape. Make sure you get the 3m mounting tape w/ the red backing that's rated at 5lbs of strength and you're golden.

well if it falls off you wont have screws. You have to cut off the screws in order to do the tape mount. And just add a whole bunch of industrial strength 3m tape and you be good. I had mines on for 1 1/2 years now and its still going strong and i wash my car once every week so it get wet a lot too.

I screwed mine on for peace of mind. My friend has the same car and he used 3M tape. He just put it on recently. Everytime before he drives, he checks to make sure it's not loose. I make fun of him for it.

i still havent been able to get the screws out but i plan on using the tape method. instead of ripping them out i think i am going to use the dremel and shave them down.

BS it won't take much. I put mine on and the first attempt it didn't line up right. It was almost impossible to pull off the car. I had to sit there for 90 minutes with a soft plastic putty knife to get it off. Trust me, nobody is ripping this off very easily.

I have installed these before, and on the 2gen especially, the 3M tape is just fine. Make sure to use rubbing alcohol to improve the adhesion.

Ebay is loaded with the aftermarket pre-painted spoilers for $100. They are worth every penny IMO. The spolier makes the 2gen look so much sleeker.

make sure you put some pressure on the 2 sides of the rear. The two sides of the rear are where you might see GAP. Add extra tape onto the side and use painting tape to hold it for a few hours after you installed it. I used all the RED 3m tape that i bought from Home Depot for $5. Be sure to line it up nicely before you pull out the tape and you will definitely need another person to help you hold. GL
