^^^ I think it is the same key but then again who knows.

As for the OP's question, the answer is yes. I have it and it works great. it just doesn't have the metal key but it is great. I got it from Sewell as well.

How much do dealers usually charge for the programming?

My dealer charged me $55, it is their hourly rate for labor, although it only took them half an hour to program it. It usually varies by dealership though.

How long will the battery last? I'm assuming that it can't be replaced?

I think they charged you for the half hour.

$55/hr would be the cheapest hourly rate I've ever heard of from a dealership.

Mine charges $110/hr.... so for 30 minutes would be- $55.

No, their hourly rate is $55. When I asked how much they charged to program the card, the sales associate told me it was $55, their hourly rate.

Also, when I asked how much they charged to install F-Sport parts, they qouted me by the hour and multiplied it by $55.

so it functions exactly like the normal key fob and the only different is that it's smaller and lighter?

Wow that is cheap! Which dealership is this? Most Bay Area dealers are around $150/hour.

What's the point of the card key anyway aside from looking cool? There is no trunk open button nor alarm buttons so it really can't replace the fob key. I guess you can impress your date.

It partially replaces the fob key and for this reason alone makes it not applicable to everyone. I for one rarely touch the buttons on the fob key, it's always in my pocket. For me it's one less thing to carry around since I can slip this in my wallet. YMMV.
