Should the IS250 provide a 16" wheel option?

Welcome to Australia everyone who are frowning upon this picture. Probably 2/3rds of IS250's here (no diesel or IS350 here) are fitted with the 16" wheels you see.
The price we're paying for a base model IS250 like the one pictured is just short of what you lot are paying for an IS-F. Hence Lexus would appear to have cut some costs by pretty much cutting out everything they feel reasonable while still remaining competitive against the German's (no Caddy, Infinity, Acura etc.).

Exactly. The 17's already are too small and make the car look goofy with its lifted suspension look. Putting 16' rims on the car would make it look ridiculous. The extra "luxury" youd get by putting on 16's would be completely negligible and definitely would not be worth the added negativity in the look department. I think a stock IS250 already looks haggard in stock form.

Have you been able to test drive the IS250 with 18" wheels? If you have, did you notice significant difference in feel?
Does the 16" wheel provide a smoother ride, quieter cabin, and better gas efficiency (with better tire life)?

I have those 16" on my winter wheels. Yes the car looks pretty ugly, but the comfort is much better than the 17" standardwheels or the 18" sport package wheels. The road noise is really MUCH lower to, especially than the 18". It saves fuel too.
The only really bad thing besides the look is the performance. I have the 250 and the wheels are spinning constantly when i hit the accelerator a little bit harder. The IS 350 would probably be impossible to drive with this dimension. Same problem when you are on a highway doing about 90-120 mph. The car dances over the road as a drunk ballerina.

So, do you drive your IS250 rather aggressively?
If you drive it conservatively, do you actually prefer the 16" wheels overall?
The main reason why I started this thread is to get a generalized idea that if you drive the IS250 conservatively (like most people do; unlike a skewed set of enthusiasts on ClubLexus), the 16" can actually be MORE beneficial...

Yeah here is my 08 w/ stock 16s
stock 16s lower on F-sports
19s lowered on F-sports
What really bother me about stock lexus/toyota wheels are witdh and off sets! So sunk in!
The 16s will make good winter wheels. And there isn't too much of a ride diffrence.

I do not race my IS 250 but i do drive pretty fast sometimes. And, yes there is nothing wrong at all with the 16" wheels if you drive conservatively. You will get a very smooth and quiet car with better MPG if you are cruising at about 50-60 mph.

Salad bowl rears FTW!
Tire size is 205/55/16
Honestly there isn't much ride diffrence. It all depends on the brand of tire too.
