Default Questions on a used IS350 (non-HID, curb rash, hood dent, bumper scratch, tires)

I checked out an 06 IS350 tonight and it's impressed me so far. It's SGM with Navi and a black interior, what I want. The price is just right too, provided everything was fine... here are some problems that I encountered that might make me pass this car:

1. non-HID headlights. how much does it cost to retrofit to HID headlights? Do i need a whole need headlight set or just the bulbs? Can this be a DIY?

2. Two wheels have curb rashes at least 25% of perimeter of the wheels. I want to paint them a light gunmetal color later on and imagine they would want a smooth surface to paint on.

3. There's a dent about the size of a quarter on the hood, it stands out at most angles. Can this be easily fixed? Do those dent removal methods work out pretty well?

4. The rear bumpber has an area about 2"x4" with multiple light scratches. It's been there for a while, can it still be fixed?

5. The tires are almost dead, there have been 24,000 miles on them (still stock tires).

The car is going for about $29700 with 24k miles on it. The price is good, but i'm already going to have to pay an additional premium to fix all those problems. Is it ok to ask the seller to fix some if not all of the problems then I'll buy the car? or discount the price a little further (how much would be reasonable?)?

It's a really nice car and I'd like to pick it up within the next week. It'll be a birthday present to myself

Are you kidding? Your not buying a house.
That is all minor stuff that is normal for a car with +20k miles, and easy to fix.
If you ask the seller to fix this stuff or discount the price, if I were him I'd tell you to go take a **** and wait for the next buyer if he already doesn't have one.

Like everyone else has said, all the issues you have with the car seem pretty minor and minimal for an 06 with 24k miles on it.

You could always get HIDs. Not that big of an issue.

You could always get after market rims that come in gun metal to save you the trouble of fixing and repainting the OEM rims. You might as well get tires when you buy new rims.

The scratches on the bumper seem pretty minor and if they bother you so much, you could aways get it repainted for cheap.

If you really like the car, you should get it. Good luck.

If the car has no HID in the first place, and I want HIDs, do I just change the bulbs out or do I have to do a whole retrofit?

You can get a kit for as low as $149. You just install the bulbs and ballasts directly into the original halogen housing. All you have to do is buy a kit with the proper fitment for your wiring harness, which is H11 for the 2IS. Not a big deal at all.

is this pretty much THE guide on how to install HIDs from non-HID? https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=192254

I'm just concerned about moisture getting in.

29,700? is that before or after taxes? that's the price I paid for mine(4 months ago, before taxes) with much more extras and almost perfect condition except for curb rash. there was some fine scratches but the dealer was willing to fix it.

I have a 2006 Crystal white w/ black interior w/ 12,500 miles. Great condition, no dings scratches, tires are great, NAV, bluetooth, Luxury package with self adjusting HID lights. No curbrash, accidents and I am the original owner. I will sell it for the same price as the one you are looking at. The car is in PERFECT condition. I detail it twice a month so the paint is in pristine condition.

I know you were looking at the SGM but let me know if you are interested in white. It is actually a very nice color in person. Also, where in Cali are you located. I have the pink slip in hand.

Damn, reading the last two posts completely destroyed me haha. I was so happy that I found the right car for the right price but now it looks like I should wait it out and look for a lower price or one with more options...

The price is before tax, private seller. Ill take a look at some pictures of the Crystal White color, because that is one well equipped car you have there Jdemkcivic

Projector headlights are standard, I always thought projectors were HID headlights but later found out they weren't.

I saw an SGM on the road today, it's definitely the color I want. Silver comes in at a close second. Looked at some pictures of the white, and they look good in some pics but I know if I don't keep it clean, it'll look bad. SGM hides the unclean more easily.

I'm thinking about offering $28500 and work up from there, with $29000 being the max I'll go for. Reasons would be I'd have to get new tires basically, fix that wheel curbed wheel. Like everyone else said, this is a USED car but I want to be able to have a NEW USED car :-P Is $28500 a lowball offer? The guy is real nice and I don't want to insult him and his wife, but I really shouldn't be getting anew car now anyways, not until I lose some weight, but what the hell!

Nope. White (065/077) will definitely hide dirt and dust way better than SGM. White, silver, and beige, hide dirt better than any other color.
