Default $12K in Damage... Will it ever be the same? :(

I got in a bad accident last week and got the repair estimate on my 07 250.. $12,500! no frame damage thank god... anyone here have their Lexus repaired and should I look out for anything?? I am taking it to a reccomended body shop that has worked on many higher end cars.. but still a bit worried it wont be the same..

Sucks, I was pulling out of a business going right onto a 6 lane road, and looked to my lane and no one was coming, well this girl was changing lanes from the far left lane to my lane to turn right at the next stop light... as I was pulling out she hit me without braking at 40 mph... Luckily we both had only minor injuries, but the worse its technically "my" fault because any vehicle pulling out has to "yield" to all lanes of traffic... so stupid.. she didnt even have her turn signal on, but she said she did.. its day 4 now and Im hurtin pretty bad, but I got checked out at the ER and they did a Catscan and no major injuries..Just on some pain meds and muscle relaxers... Her 99 Hyundai was totalled!

So now I get to enjoy some sky rocketing insurance premiums for 3 years... good stuff.

If you take it to a good body shop, it will be good as new. My rear quarter panel was crushed, took 2 weeks and 3400 of their money to fix it but it looks brand new now.

Surprised there's no frame damage. Unfortunately I couldn't say the same about my car heh. About how fast were you going?

I was acually not moving when I was hit around probably 40 MPH, so considering the damage isnt that bad.. none of my airbags went off...

You're looking at $14,300 worth of damage. My car is better now than it was before that accident. MAKE SURE you choose a shop that will not cut corners, and has a good reputation. I'd refer you to Longo Collision here in SoCal, but I see you're in AZ. Good luck!

Even if you can get it back to specs, it will never be the same...

Alright, its now going into 6 weeks without my car. I took it to one of the largest body shops in my area, and my insurance company reccommended it.. They had to replace both frame rails, and put in a new wiring harness, becuase some of the wiring was damaged. They called me yesterday and said it is getting painted now..

I am now paying out of pocket becuase my rental insurance only covers 30 days, and I need a car for work..

Is this kinda long? I took it in on Oct 16th! wtf?? I don't want to rush them but I feel like this is getting a little long

Is this a normal amount of time?

Well, I had a car with a little more damage than that and it took 8 weeks. Isn't the other guy's insurance covering all this? If they had to replace frame rails, it'll probably never be the same after the repair. Unfortunately, you'll have a hard time selling it without taking a significant loss because of the extent of the damage. I'd get an estimate from the Lexus dealership used car manager on what the value before and after the damage would be and try to get compensated for loss of value (will be several thousand dollars).

No, he was at fault.
