sorry to tell you but your pipes are bent. It looks like the muffler is bent and pushed up. probably got a hole in the piping too...explains the louder exhaust sounds

**** but maybe that will explain the louder noises. I'm not driving the car until Friday when I finally have a chance to get under and see what exactly the problem is after I finish this hell week of exams.

It was a very easy fix and just required me to pull down VERY hard. I don't know how it got stuck but the rubber thing (sorry don't know what it's called) circled in red in the picture below got out of shape and was stuck in between VERY tightly. Thanks for everyone's help. And sorry for the huge picture but since I'm using my phone camera a bigger image shows more clearly what I'm talking about so if anyone has the same problem they know what to do.
