Default Crazy MPG (your milage may vary)

So i drove back to my apartment in santa cruz from my parents house in napa today a 116 mile trip, and on the way i noticed my Current MPG screen was averaging pretty high, so i decided to see how well i could do....
Minor stats first, had it in ECT Snow, AC off, seat heat on, radio on, headlights on. My average speed was 63 miles an hour, gotta love the 250! One thing that may have helped is im running 38psi front 40 psi back
FYI i didnt start with a full tank haha

Not odd at all.

I can pull nearly that much (35mpg) going 50mph in my GS4 on a flat straight rural road.

Now, at 65mph or so i can do about 29mpg, But take in mind this is a car that's 8yrs older with a 60% larger powertrain, and a 5spd instead of your 6spd.

Cruise control really helps.

One trip, all highway, from a fill up on flat road and <65 mph? Sounds reasonable.

I guess the 250 and 350 have that much of a difference? My 350 gets about 23 on a good day...

IIRC, under similar conditions as the OP (but snow mode off and about 50 miles), I've seen about 31-32 mpg. But, you gotta keep your foot out of the throttle.

And, on 200 mile trips going at speeds changing from 65 mph to 75 mph to 65 mph (I-95), I've managed over 28 mpg IIRC.

So, the 350 isn't that much of a gas burner as some make it out to be.

ive gotten 37 mpg in my 350 before ...it was just after a fill-up. i was going ~ 65 mph...but my trick was following behind a big rig truck....a bit dangerous, but the reduction in drag force really helps. i drove behind the truck for about 25 miles. i believe they tested something like this on mythbusters and they got a 40% increase in mileage... i dont remember.

it's mostly flat highway but for those from nor cal I took 680 to 17, and the 17 is a heck of a climb

How close were you really? (You literally have to be able to read their tag expiry for drafting to be at all effective.)

Aren't you worried about rock chips?
