about the 4smt 2w hipower bulbs, i am very interested in seeing the long term effects of running such a hipower bulb, ppl here have tried a variation of a flank hipower bulb such as this and have had blown fuses. So... since these bulbs are new and ppl have just put them in, i will reserve judgment on them for a few months.

I don't know why the LEDs would melt the housing no matter what brand they are. They don't even get as hot as a standard filament bulb, and besides that they aren't even on long enough to build any kind of dangerous heat. You can get the bulbs I used on the V-LEDs site.

They list the 6 led's output at 12 lumens and the 4 led 2w at 80.

The site says the 4 led draws 2 watts. Given the car's 12v electrical system and what I remember about High School science that would be .167 amps. I found a website selling conventional 194 bulbs that listed them as drawing .27 amps. But all that should be taken with a grain of salt since I could be way off.

Guy's your stock bulb draws 5w so this 2w LED is less than half the draw. Again those who are wondering about the 6 LED standard SMT vs the 4 LED High Power the high power is much brighter. Again the 4 LED uses .5w LEDs, these are not the same LED as the 6 uses even though they look the same. I have the 4 LED High Power in my puddle lights, they are sick!

I bought the 6 LEDs from v-leds.com. I was sure I was going to break something prying that mirror apart with only 2 screws out but it worked just like you said! Thanks for the credit card tip too.
Mine don't look as ridiculously bright as the 4 LED hi-power ones (based on the picture), which is what I was going for.
For some reason the bulbs don't work if I have them pushed all the way into the socket. I had to pull it out just a tad before they'd come on. Did anyone else have this problem?
I also had a problem with one of the bulbs, only 3 of the 6 LEDs would light up. I e-mailed v-led.com and they got back to me within a few hours (on a saturday night to boot) letting me know I'd have a replacement on the way tomorrow morning.
