ECT mode for Autox?

ECT mode for Autox?
Since the rpms are shifted at higher rpms and downshift quicker during braking this should help me when I autox I presume. I hear in a straight line ect mode OFF is faster. Anyone have real proof of this?

A few members have found that in the 1/4 mile the car performs better with the ect power mode off. In an autox event it would probably be advantageous to have the ect power mode because it does hold gears longer. You may also consider using the paddle shifters.

when i was on the tail of the dragon with HKS350 and ROBS2k, I tried a variety of different driving options.
Letting the car shift itself in D
Let it shift is D with ECT PWR
Shift myself with the shifter
Shift myself with the sifter in ECT PWR
Paddle shift
Paddle shift in PWR
After all that was said and done, I ended up paddling away in both pwr and off.
Don't think there was too much of a difference except the needle wouldn't hit red line before shifting in PWR mode.
Staying in D with PWR mode should be fine for auto x
Just remember when you decide to use paddles instead to learn to time the shifts properly since this gearbox likes to shift on it's own and it's not as quick in shifting like the IS-F
ah another thing i forgot to mention.
i did find fault with the steering wheel.
it's a nice unit but the stitching hurt my thumbs after a while of hard driving.
that's why i'm going to get rid of it

Great replies..I appreciate the comments. In regards to paddle shifting... I probably won't ever bother. I am so used to manual that shifting via paddle is just too weird of a switch. I test drove an M3 with the SMG transmission (electronic clutch) and boy was that ANNOYING! The car looked amazing and it was a Vert. It would have probably been a done deal had it been a normal manual or an automatic.
I guess I'm old school. If its manual I need to be pressing the clutch when switching.
