i had no idea this was a common issue.. i just spent 10 dollars at the dealer buying new plastic retainers. i wish i saw this before

lol mine was falling off, even after repeatedly putting the clip all the way back in and finally i gave up and took it off. i dunno if it really does much anyways.

Go to AutoZone (or any parts store). Here are my notes from last time this happened to me:

Got two 2-pks of Rivet-tite 47956 fasteners. Used 2 for left side rear mud guard. Other pkg is in middle console. Turning screw is not very important; just jam it in there.

They're cheap, too.
