Didn't R&T say they launched at 3-4k? it looked like you launched at under 2k. Also, I wonder if you would get better hookup/faster launch with 265/35 vs. stock rubber?

My 4.9 was stock. this 4.7 I have the mods listed on my signature. I dont think mods on this car make much difference from 0-60 since is such shot time and our car is not really hard to lauch.
I think this 4.7 its just because the cool weather.

mods might make a lil difference on the 1/4 mile. but as far as i know not that much maybe like .2 or .3 seconds.

I posted on their video on youtube saying it was BS. they said the IS-F ran LOW 13's on the 1/4 mile. THATS stupid. The ISF can run 12's any day

I know. Well here is the thing. I went to the track twice with my mazda 6 and the vector did not miss by more than .1 sec on over 10 runs.

with te IS350 I went to the track and ran 13.6 and the vector said 13.7. on 3 runs it did not miss by more than .1 sec. on 2 of them it said a slower time than the track actually said.

I think people get weird times because they dont calibrate it on a perfectly flat road. the best way to do it, is calibrate it right before the run on the same road, so the vector will save that setting as being flat. just in case its a lil uphill or even downhill

Still, track times are official. but im just saying this thing wont miss by much. LOL

more curious than anything - not doubting

been thinkin about getting one actually but curious about how it gets it data.
trust me. GET IT I love it.
Ive used it on over 10 cars and it has been extremly close to what 0-60 times are stated.
MAzda 6 0-60 in low to mid 6 seconds. I did it consistantly in high 5's but i had a bunch of mods.
G35 low 0-60 in low 5-s and the vector said low 5s
IS350 you know
C55 AMG high 4's low 5's, the vector said 4.8, 4.9. 5
Mercedes S class V6 0-60 in 7.5 vector said 8 seconds but with 2 persons in the car
Its pretty accurate.

I posted on motrotrends webpage asking how they did it and they said they launched at like 4000 RPM with ECT on and traction control off. I dont see how that is possible. If i launch at 2000 RPM with traction control off I will spin like if i was on snow, specially if its cold outside

Edmunds is horrible at doing Lexus reviews,
the IS-F vs. RS-4 review was horrible!
They compared the 1/4 mile times with a 335i,
that's some bouish...

There have been numerous threads on CL discussing the advantage of ECT on for straight acceleration. I think the idea behind the 4k launch is that the spin is good because you keep your engine speed higher and in more of the powerband. Also, that is why I thought the wider 265 tires might help. Plus, they might have been better with the higher engine speed because they were most likely testing at a track, with rubber on the ground thus providing better traction. Whenever I have run for a quick 0-60 on the street I have put my foot on the brake, quickly applied some throttle to about 3k then floored it and at the same time dropped the brake. Next time you do a run, maybe give this a shot. I would be interested to hear the results!

I tried today and only reved up to 2000 and it just spun like crazy. but i kept my foot on the gas and 2nd gear came kinda powerless, I got 5.6. then I tried it without reving up just givin gas and got 4.8

I think you are right, they test on tracks with better grip than on the street and they car rev up to 3000 RPM

damn fast for a guy who drives a GS350. same motor with an extra 300lbs of car. I guess I would be in the low 5's I guess. The intake sounds bad ***.

Im curious to see what the 0-60 is for the GS350 in real life. The torque on the GS350 comes earlier in the RPM. also, since the GS is a lil heavier it might get better grip and could launch a lil harder. Ive never driven one so i couldnt tell you. It will definitely be in the low 5's. I wouldnt be supprosed at all if it hits 4.9
