Default Lease on 09 350

Hey guys

Currently have an 06 GX470 and my lease is up at the end of this month. MSRP on it was $53,XXX, NAV, etc. Paid $2500 up front and after tax it came out to $593/month for a 3 year, 15k miles/yr.

I would say I got a fairly good deal at the time. My question is, do you think I would be able to get the 350 with NAV with similar terms for less than my current lease?

The only offer I have received so far is $1000 down, $623/month + tax. Seems a little steep, but not sure what people are paying for these. Just trying to find a good number to shoot for! Any input is appreciated!

I am sure now a days with the ecomony you should be able to get whatever you want just a matter of how long you want to spend going back and forth with the dealership. But i dont see why you should because the cost of a 350 should be cheaper than 53K might require more money down to get it below your current payment.

That's actually not that bad. What options does the car have?

What is your target payment? Keeping it under $600 like your current payment? Like 6004rr05 said, it will take you some time to do some research to get the price/payment you want. Good luck in your search

Keep in mind residuals have dropped quite a bit since 2006.

The 350 should sticker far less than your GX. Thus, it's not an equal comparison. Also, never buy/lease a car based on payments. Whatever invoice is, you should work off of that. If a dealer said to you, "yeah, we can keep your payments the same," he could be making thousands extra off your deal and you'd never know it. Cover all your bases and start with the invoice.

Yeah I thought about that. So you suggest I negotiate the price of the car first, then mention I want to lease?

I know. Most dealerships were quoting me $700+, but I refused so I called around and told the dealerships that if they were willing to meet my terms I would come and purchase the next day. Worked out perfect. I'm definitely going to miss it. Now the hard part is finding another good deal lol. I am considering the 350 and 535, but I think the BMW might run me a little more and I have always enjoyed the luxury feel of Lexus interiors. Just a preference.

That is what every car-buying guide recommends to do. But honestly, I have never seen that happen in real life. Nor have I been able to do it myself. The first question a dealer asks is, "how are you going to pay for it?" This question comes up first so the salesperson knows which gear to chose for his control regime. I suppose you can flat out tell them you aren't going to tell them, but that might start you all off on a weird note. Your call. Just make sure in the end you are buying off of invoice. Ask to see it. If they can't play it your way, they are likely withholding info from you.

I would suggest you try for:

4yrs $0 down

I don't believe in putting money down on a leased vehicle.
4yr lease on a 4yr warranty, they quite often let you out at 3.5yrs anyway.

Uhhh... you know how dealership tactics can be. Things kept from the customer, maximizing profits by thousands of dollars, and taking advantage of uneducated buyers. The idea is to let the dealer make some money on a sale, but not the above. You've got money to be donating? I don't . No one comes into my work and stuffs my pockets. If you care highly for your dealer, let them make money on the servicing. The most educated buyer is the one who will save the most money.

If they can get to the payment you want and still make money, who cares?

On a lease, it's all about payment and term anyway. If they can get to your payment and still make a couple thousand, good for them.
