Just installed this last month... plays everything I throw at it... coupled with a 500GB WD MyPassport HD, I got all DVD's and mp3/divx/xvid/itunes movies I want playing on there...

No modding required to glovebox.... so small and light you can just double side tape it to the plastic encasing inside glovebox

tapped into 12V of cigarette adapter line behind the dash, with a switch to kill it when I'm not using it, cause I didn't want it turned on everytime I turn the ignition
it uses 12VDC power, so no DC/DC converter needed
As for heat, it's got a pretty massive heatsink on it....haven't had any issues since I've installed it, although the texas summer is just around the corner so we'll see
when I have some more time, I'm going to take it apart and run the infrared LED's behind the air vent.. tired of opening and closing the glovebox to use the remote
