Default Nasty Surprise

So today I was out getting some last minute christmas gifts at bestbuy, and when I got home my car was frosted and it had salt all over. I decided to wipe off the salt, in fear that the it would hurt the paint. To my surprise, bam the first spot I wipe off, there is a dent about 1 mm deep with a scratch mark!!!

I've had this car about 2 months and I get nicked. I dunno if it was a stray cart or was it some ******* who swung their door open, but i'm pretty sure it was an ******* since their is silver paint left on my car.

It is hard to see the the dent in the pictures, since my car is black sapphire, but the scratch is clearly visable...

Aww, man - that sucks. Looks like someone opened a door right into the side of your car. Beware of Xmas shoppers!

That's very unfortunate Looks like it'll probably be a couple hundred bucks to touch up.

I had this happen to my 2004 RX when I had it. Isopropyl alchol will normally remove the offender's paint. I then use white polishing compound and hand buff out the scratches. Depending on how visible it is, this may work. I get razzed alot cause I tend to park far out in the lot against an outer perimeter. You'd be surprised how many folks pull into a space in front of another car and stop when they tap the bumper of the car in front. That's why I like to park on perimeter of lots where front against a curb.

Man that sucks. You may have to get some heavy compound and a rotary to get that off. Can't see the dent but the dent may have to go with PDR.

There should be no need to repaint the panel.

1. If there is a dent, PDR will get it out (~$150)
2. If the scratch is really deep, use touch up paint.
3. A good pro detailer should be able to polish that out (~$200).

2. wow didn't know black sapphire was that dark blue...
3. looks like it will buff out like others said...
4. on 3rd pic you have a lot of swirl marks for a 2 month old car...?? or it was just how you wiped off that part.
5. i'm sure it'll be aight.

Swivel marks are there because of the way I wiped it, they might also be there because of how my lexus dealer cleaned it up. I took my car there for the free car wash, and it looked good until I got home and it was swivels galore. Never going back to the lexus dealers wash again.

I've learned my lesson, never again will I park near other people.

Get some Meguire's fine cut cleaner, and clean those scratches off. Or you can try some of that Meguires ScratchX.

Then re-+examine the damage.
