Happy Holidays...
Have less than 10 months on my M35x and wife's SUV and starting to think about new vehicles. Was planning on the new TL - SHawd and MDX, but TL exterior design and size of vehicle are real turn-offs.
Test drove and spent some time with the IS awd and was impressed. I want to go smaller, lighter and more nimble than my M and really liked the IS. Love the exterior and high quality appearance interior. Issue is I must have AWD and am somewhat bummed at the 2.5 liter 204hp engine when the TL awd is over 300hp, the new Audi A4 is much closer to 300hp and the Infiniti G37 is well over 300hp. I consider all of these vehicles direct competition to the IS awd.
Is there any chatter about Lexus bumping up the size of the engine or even better, adding awd to the 350??? I have looked online, but cannot find anything about it. It would certainly appear on "paper" to be sorely lacking in power and Lexus has to recognize this.
Any help would be appreciated.

why isn't it reliable? it's just Nissan... it's reliable too since the Engine is Japanese. I know many guys have G35 and they didn't have any problems.. Happy as much as any Nissan, Toyota and Lexus owner

Well certainly closer to the IS350, but G37 is available in awd and that is my point. Lexus shoud atleast offer awd in the 3.5 as well or maybe just scrub the 2.5 altogether.

No doubt, I have had Infiniti M3sx, FX35 and both my brothers drive G35x's and none of our cars had one iota of an issue. I would actually get the G37, but am just tired of the brand and hear great things from all Lexus owners.

But again, with awd being offered in TL, G, A4, etc, and all of them being close to or over 300hp; it makes no sense to hold down the power or atleast not offer awd in the 3.5.

how about you just go for a test drive or go to one of your friends who owns a lexus is350 or 250 what ever you like and see how does it feel for ya. you might not like lexus, but i don't think you would refuse lexus because it's a really great car as the infinities..

It is very unlikely that Lexus will do any major changes such as bumping up the engine size or making a AWD IS350... expect only slight minor (probably cosmetic) changes from here on out until the next generation for 2012

IS 250 has large market with the smaller 204hp engine partly because of the gas mileage against competition. The brand, reliability, premium feel of the car are rock solid for Lexus. Go for the IS AWD.

It depends on how you are taking care of the car... You can't just blame something made out of Toyota or Nissan since they are reliable can you? unless many people out there are having problems with their car..
