Default IS curse strikes again! Bumper

2007 Lexus IS 350 Obsidian Black with Park Assist Sensor.

Ok, I got hit in the back.. the damage is only isolated to the rear bumper. Lexus quoted me about $350 for the bumper and I would have to get it painted. What I need is a repair manual on how to replace the bumper.

Anyone know where I can find the source for this in PDF format?

Only $350 for the bumper? By Lexus stealership standards, that sounds almost reasonable!

Good luck on the repairs!

Anyone know how long it will take to install the rear bumper? I replaced my front 2005 Toyota Camry bumper and that was easy. Any tip? I will likely be doing this with another person.

Ok Got the spec for the cost replacement parts (all in Canadian Dollar 1 = .85 US)

1. Bumper = $347 - can't do much about this (unpainted), it will cost another $200-300 to paint it.

2. Extension Bumper = $10 - cost is small

3. Absorber foam = $115 - I am wonder should I just leave the current absorber on ? The damage to the absorber is minor, there about 1/2 increase piece missing and the rest of the absorber is fine.. I have part of it of the absorber that fell off.. Can I just crazy glue this with the part I have and the rest from other foam from around the house?

5. Reflector (right side) - $98 = damn it's just a piece of plastic and it cost this much. Looking for used one.

Total Cost for all the parts = 600.92 with Taxes

Well your absorber foam essentially.... absorbs a impact you don't want to "reuse" it after any piece of it has been damaged, the integrity of that absorber foam, you might want to get a new one if you ever (pray you don't) get in another accident it'll absorb impact rather then just break away.

hope that makes sense...

1. Got a estimate... to paint the bumper it will cost $315. Which I am fine with.. the guy who is painting the stuff has listed the color as "BLACK", is there a different between "Black" and "Obsidian Black" color code 121?

2. To install the bumper it will cost about $275 (4 hours). Should I just install this myself?
I don't mind installing it as long as it's easy and I do screw things up.

Install it yourself. Process isnt all that bad if you are handy with tools. The PDF from Joe Z is detailed.

The paint places ive been too wants around 500 to repaint the rear bumper, and if i were to repair it with the car, it would be 50.00 for the reflector( i bought one used from the F/S section, but its been over 2 months and i havent recieved it yet).

The paint places i inquired were high quality but i havent taken off my bumper to see if theres anything internally thats damaged...
