Default $599 to Install XM Radio?

I was thinking again about getting XM installed in my non NAVI 08 IS250. The dealership currently has a "sale" and it's $599 to install. I'm guessing I can get it installed alot cheaper if I did it myself, right? Not that I'm any good at that stuff... Also, how is XM radio in the non navi IS250? I'm guessing it's probably not as user friendly as compared to having XM in a car with the navi.

i have a nonnav 07 i had considered getting the dealership installed factory xm radio, as well. my dealership quoted me $800 to do it, so your saving 200 i would do it, or you could just purchase the unit for 300 and rip your trunk apart and plug it in...theres some writeups on it here..

$300 in parts, and probably an hour of your time to install. It's all done in the trunk and as noted there's some nice writeups on how to do it here, pics and everything.

XM on non-nav is just fine, works just like normal radio stations except there's more stations and more info when you push the TEXT button. (plus you can set 18 presets, which is about as many stations as I'd commonly listen to on XM anyway)

Save yourself $300 by following this thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...o-install.html

I did this over a year ago and everything works fine.

BTW, does anyone know of a good deal on XM subscription? Mine just expired.

+1 on that.

Just renewed my subscription last month for $77/yr. If the person on the phone won't give it to you, hang up and call again. Somewhere in that 90+ page thread, they mention that some sales people won't give you the deal, but others will. I had no problems getting mine though.

Can you get the $77 deal on a new subscription or do you have to cancel one first?

I believe that Lexus and XM have a deal that gives you 3 months free and $0 activation fee with new activation.

I just called up, stated the above statement, and they gave it to me. Then, I *believe* that you can actually use the $77/yr thing after the 3 months (if you don't provide a credit card initially--->that way they can't bill you), although I didn't try that.

In terms of xm in non-nav: like Kurtz said, it's functions just like the FM does, but you can hit text to see artist/song/station (although only 8-10 characters.......unfortunately it doesn't scroll). The only "issue" I have with it is that when you restart your engine, it ALWAYS defaults back to station name (and I ALWAYS keep it on artist name)

edit: it now looks like it's one month free, according to Lexus' website........but xm may not know that.
