Default strange engine sound at 4500 rpms

When I accelerate hard, right around 4500 rpms, i hear a strange engine sound. It kinda sounds like something is vibrating under the hood, high pitch. Hard to explain. It's pretty faint and minor. This happens almost everytime. Anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be? I have a 06 is250 still under warranty. It doesn't bother to the point I've taken it to the dealer yet. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Mine does a high pitch sound at around that rpm range. But only when it's cold. It goes away after it warms up. Probably not the same as your issue though.

I recommend you take it in soon just for the sole purpose that they document it. It makes you that much more credible if something happens.

Everything is stock, yes. I'm going to take it in to get the brake dust problem fixed (hopefully it'll be free, like others have posted). I'll mention the engine noise. Thanks guys

OK some clarification. After some closer listening it appears the noise is simply some metal vibration behind the dash. Probably harmless but a bit annoying. Would the dealer charge me an arm and a leg to take apart the dash and try to find the noise cause? Would this be covered under warranty? Anyone else experience this? Thanks.

they have a TSIB about the noise from the dashboard....but are you willing to let them to tear your whole dash apart in order to put the felt in the firewall to eliminate the noise?

I think you are mistaking it for our powerful engine growling...
