True, and when you go in to fix that they can write you up for anything else on your car that they want. Also, they wont sign it unless EVERYTHING IS FIXED....happened to me was a pain in the @$$
Cutting the overlay is really easy - you can do it with a modeling/putty knife, and you won't scratch the lens if just take your time with it. Here's some pics of other members who have cut out the reverse light from their overlay:
