A car can get hurt by more than just "Hot Rodding" it.

Not exactly. It was previously a TSIB. Now it's an SSC and it covers a wider range of models and VINs.

There are three SSCs for ISx50 -

NOTE!!! Even if your car's VIN falls in the range, IT MAY NOT BE AFFECTED!!

SSC7LC - During the manufacturing process of two specific fuel pipes located in the engine compartment, high stress areas may have been created in the pipes. Combined with other factors such as the presence of corrosive agents in fuel, a crack may form over time leading to fuel leakage.

SSC9LB - The slide pin in the rear brake calipers may not operate smoothly on these vehicles. If the vehicle continues to be operated under these conditions, the brake pads may make noise.

SSC9LC - Customers may experience a noticeable gradual increase in the steering effort necessary at low speeds when turning the steering wheel to the complete left or right position. This condition may be most perceptible when parking the vehicle.

MORE IMPORTANT THAN ALL OF THIS:

So, even if your car falls in the range, IT MAY NOT BE AFFECTED!!

You must contact your dealer and have the need for these repairs validated.

Its a pretty easy job for a skilled tech who is familiar with the car. Personally I wouldnt want it done unless it was necessary just because theres nothin like the factory assembly.

We need SSC-9LA, not SSC-7LC, correct? Because SSC-7LC only covers 2006 year model vehicles, and 9LA was mentioned in the press release.

If you sign up as an owner on the lexus.com webpage (under owner's), it should show you all the "campaigns" (aka- recalls) that are available for the car.

BTW, my lexus owner's page doesn't show any of these new recalls for my vehicle yet, other than the fuel pipe campaign (which, as others have stated, is an old campaign)

SSC9LA does not show up on a search for any model year IS350, but search under GS350 yields this:

SSC9LA - The involved vehicles are equipped with aluminum fuel delivery pipes (fuel rails). Lexus has determined that ethanol fuels with low moisture content will corrode the internal surface of the fuel rails. As this condition progresses, the engine malfunction indicator light (MIL) may illuminate. Over time, the corrosion will create a pinhole resulting in fuel leakage.

All the same caveats apply.

And yes, I am very happy I traded my 350 for the IS-F and even happier I don't see the F on this list.

So is lexus saying that the MIL will light up before actually needing to take the car in

(ie- not a big worry until MIL shows)

Hmmm, I am surprised that I am not on the list for the Electronic Steering rack problem. When I am parking and turning the steering wheel relatively quick.... I definately feel the steering wheel stiffen up and get easy constantly, like a pulse.

If anybody is still uncertain if their car is involved, feel free to PM or IM me your VIN# and I can quickly search our database to check if your car is involved (I work for TMS, so I do have access to the national database).
