Another question, I have a good collection of songs whose ID3 tags are in unicode Chinese. Do you know if the nav system supports that? If not, i guess i won't bother to get the adaptor
The Drive + Play 2 supports Chinese and other languages. The only caveat is that the menu language has to be in Chinese as well (or a unicode language).

I also checked. The iPhone is supported with the Drive + Play 2.

Dude, I just use a $5 cable to plug into the aux jack in the center console. I mainly just play music through the iPod nano though, not my phone. I've never seen a "plug n' play" kit or anything similar that I didn't think was cheesey.

Have you considered the Vaistech products? It does ipod integration, and you can stream your video to the LCD screen as well.

I've got the older SLi box in my IS and it displays the iPhone's playlists just fine.
It connects through the dock connector. However, the older SLi box is only capable of charging ipods and the original iPhone, not the iPhone 3G.

The SL2i box is able to display playlists, and other sorting methods, like artists, songs, etc. Not sure if it can charge the iPhone 3G.

And finally, the Sl2vi is able to play videos from the iPhone. Again, not sure if it can charge the iPhone 3G just yet.

Update:
Here's a comparison chart.

SL2Vi seems very attractive. Do you guys know if it displays album art when playing songs? Does it support foreign langauges (like Chinese) in unicode?

One concern i have with buying a system like this is future compatibility. I am sure i upgrade my iPhone more often than my car audio. What if the current SL2Vi doesn't support the next gen iphone? What's the upgrade path for this kind of built-in adaptors? Is software upgrade possible?

Anyone know if this will do both sat radio and I-phone playback/charge through the nav screen?
