Default Want to upgrade speakers in non-ml system in IS250

Hey guys, I’m thinking of replacing all of the factory speakers in my IS250, I only count 12 speakers that seem to actually work, (3 for each door). There’s a speaker behind the headrest in the backseat but there’s no sound coming out of it.

Should I replace all of the factory speakers or just a few of them? Also, what speakers would you suggest replacing them with? I was thinking jbl or alpine

unless you want to spend more than $1k in speakers... I would leave it alone.

You may want to add a subwoofer though.

Yep, Yep!

I dont think anyone has been able to find small enough speakers for the tweeters. Everything else can be replaced. The speaker behind the head rest is a sub. Kind of small but still a sub.

I don't think just replacing the 12 speakers will be of any benefit. Your stock speakers were designed to work very well with your stock amp so changing just the speakers may actually sound worse. If you insist on changing the speakers you really should add amps to give them the power they need to sound good. That in itself would be very difficult since your using the stock headunit and have to tap into alot of wires.

BTW, the single speaker behind the rear seats is the low profile subwoofer. Most people here just add a sub/amp.

I would have to agree, the stock system is ok and all components work well together. If you want any significant improvement you will need to redo the whole enchilada. I've got about 2 grand worth of crap and 40 hrs of (my) labor invested in mine. It sounds good, but it's a lot of work and you don't always strike the right balance of components on your first try. It'll soon turn into a hobby for you.
