Default 07 is350 20k miles $32k or 08 luxury pak 41.9k good deal or not? your comments needed

Hey so i talked to the guy for this is350

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=b&make=LEXUS

and he drop the price from $31,998 to $30,000

hes a dealer however its for a private party that he is selling the car so which brings me to the question should i do a priavte party purchase or dealer? im guessing private party is less expensive overall?

whats your take is it worth it? i feel bad re posting a new thread but i want to take others word for it

this is what he said

I am advertising the car for private party. $30K is bottom line, for car only... Not out the door

Anthony
then i asked

if its for another person you are selling the car for then we can take a

1)hike on sales tax cant we?

Also this leads to more questions

2) is it clean title?

3)do you have the carfax at hand? (most nessary)

4)and if any work on the car like paint repairs or car accidents

5) whats the final price otd? then what is their to add?

you can use zip code 95019 or zipcode 95045 which ever is lowest price

his response was

1) you can do a private party purchase
2) clean title
3) Vehicle is VERY clean, no scratches, dents, dings, no paint work. VERY CLEAN!!
4) I dont have carfax account, it does have clean carfax, we can figure some way to get one before you complete transaction
5)OTD
if you dealer transaction, we collect everything
$30000
$55 doc
+ tax based on your county tax rate
$30 DMV tranfer fee

private party
$30000 to seller

pay to DMV on your own
+ tax based on your county
+ reg transfer fee
then i reply with

is the title at hand? which method is lowest price? if i understand this right you are saying theirs private party sell and dealer. im in watsonville / freedom area santa cruz county zipcode 95019

whats OTD with everything?

his resopnse was

Since its a private party vehicle, you have an option to purchase from him as a private party transaction, or we can do the transaction though our dealership also, whatever option you are comfortable with and works out the best

he has title already, no liens on the car

If you do the deal through us, here is OTD

$30,000
$55
$2480
$30

$32,565

its about $2,480 in tax? i feel the same way if it was in person or dealer as long as i can save money thats what matters. i mean no other benefit in buying in dealer

you save $55 documentation fee if you buy from him directly. everything else is the same.

the tax and registration is charged by the DMV, dealers are middle men ande collect on their behalf.
If you do buy from him, you would pay 8.25% tax based on the purchase price on your own once your at the DMV.
So let the discussion begin

edited....

i used / insted of * my mistake.

Gus, if you're at all interested in leasing, I'm doing a lease trade on my 06 IS350 w/9,700 miles that's loaded with Lux/ML.

Take a look if you're interested, as it might be a better deal for you than what you're looking at.

Gus, when you say "lexus of pleason" do you mean Lexus of Pleasanton? Thats where I got my 350. Them quoting you for $41.9K is about right. In the ball park at least. Mine was a $41.2K.
