Default Another method to haul your bike around with the 2IS

Folks,

Today was a great day in San Francisco, I decided to swap over my Saris Bones RS from my S2000 to my IS350 before the start of the SuperBowl. I laid down some painter's tape, and quickly bolted the rack right on. Most of the time spent was changing the setting because the S2K has a short truck height.

The fit was solid as this is probably the best trunk mount rack out there. The little upward curve on the trunk did not affect the mounting at all, although this setup would not work if you have a spoiler. The curvature seems to have improved on the rigidity of the setup as well.

Talk is cheap, so here are the pictures:

I think I might consider laying down some clearbra material on the trunk as this turned out so well. Anyone have a source where I can buy that stuff online?

Enjoy!

It's a Saris Bones RS. It's a little expensive, but I highly recommend it.

I would with a roof rack, rather than a trunk. I would be to paranoid about messing up the trunk.

I use the Saris Bones 801 3-Bike Trunk Mount Rack instead, which is cheaper. I'm very happy with it though - I've had 3 road/hybrid bikes on it without problems.

The RS looks a more stable, especially for Mountain Bikes. It looks like it's much easier to open the trunk without removing the rack as well!

However the Bones 801 is designed to clear your spoiler.

Thanks for the photos =)

Heck yea. It's just a temp solution until I get it clearbra'ed.

If you don't have a trunk rack already like I do, the roof mount is probably a cleaner bet. But the chances of putting a scratch or a dent do greatly increases. Once I get my trunk protected, I think this setup is almost bullet proof.
