camp out by your car with a shotgun.

it happened off the 56 heading to Del Mar - where I live.

They got the hood...thank god nothing else. It is a small comet size scratch...it looks worse on film but you cant really notice unless you catch it...but nonetheless, I want to get it fixed. Just got the damn car. :/

Does anyone in SD have suggestions how I should about fixing it? Does an entire hood repaint necessary? I heard clay could help...

man that sucks dude. Luckily I don't have to worry about getting egged here. The only thing I have to worry about is people opening their doors too hard and giving me a door ding.

Clay would only help if there is something on the paint surface to get off. Since it appears you cleaned the area as good as you can, I'm guessing there is nothing else on the paint surface to take off. The rest is just small chips in the paint caused from the shell breaking. And yes, the only thing that will make it totally go away is to repaint it. And since you can't really spot paint, yes the whole hood would need to be repainted.

On my car, it happened on the corner of the Trunk and it wasn't bad enough to get repainted and I don't believe they noticed it when we traded it in. But since I'm a detail freak, I noticed it all the time. I may have a picture of what mine looked like somewhere, let me see if I can find it.

First,sorry for the egging

Second,do you park your car outside regularly or was this just a one off thing?

I've had success with placing wet towels on the egg and letting it sit for an hour or so. It seemed to come off with a little rubbing with a wet microfiber cloth. After than I used a spray wax (cheater's wax) that can be used on wet cars after a car wash.

A body shop may be able to buff out the scratches if the paint is not chipped too badly. I have been amazed at what they can do. I had a 2x8 fall over in my garage and sideswipe my car with some fairly good scratches, but the shop made everything look as good as new.
