Default Annoying knocking on foot rest

Sorry if this has already discussed before, but I tried a search and came out empty-handed. Or maybe I'm the only one that's having this minor issue.

I was cruising high-speed on the highway, and was resting my left foot on the footrest pedal (the one that doesn't move). All I can feel is this annoying knocking/tapping/tickling coming from underneath. It feels like the wind is causing something to be hitting against it, or it could be the gusts of wind itself. But whatever it is, it is a huge distraction, and I'd rather just rest my foot on the floor.

Can this be fixed? If I add the Sport pedal kit, will the thickness of the pedal absorb this obnoxious knocking?

Please help and discuss, I feel like I'm the only one that's going crazy.

I have the standard pedals and have no issue w/ what you describe.

FYI, it's called a dead pedal.
