So I just picked up my new car, and I'm a little paranoid about the lengths I'll go to to baby my ride. My previous car was a 2002 Acura RSX Type S which I loved dearly and babied constantly. But now it's time to step up and I am nuts over the IS.

Now i'll be worrying about keeping that "showroom shine" at all times. What do you guys do when it comes to this? Do you guys hand wash it yourselves? Pay someone to wash and wax? Which wax is supreme? I'd just like to hear some of your tales of the TLC you give your cars.

just try to stay away from dealership, they will give your car swirls. Try searching.

i dont trust anyone else to wash or detail my car. its black and hard enough for me to keep it perfect.. much less try to get someone else to do it. :/ so i do it all myself.

ROFL... how far do i go... i do not leave my garage without a detail first, then when i come home even from just going 1/2mi to buy cigs i clean her again... when we have our wkly starbucks meets i stop at REV-01's shop to make sure my car is clean and if shes not i clean her again... one funny story: i entered a show and someone said 'his car looks the same as it does every other day', best compliment i've ever had

yes my car is white, yes its hard to see swirls, but that doesnt mean i can be lax... you'll need a professional PPG lite ($400bucks) to see that i have barley any microswirls

btw: i do everything by hand, myself.

i wash and wax once a week. Currently using Zymol concours and when that runs out i think i might try some swissvax.

When I first got it, I sacrificed my hands for it (frostbite for car wash). Now... eh car wash once every 2 weeks?

Unless it's an emergency, my car doesn't leave the garage if it's raining or if there's salt on the roads. I use Meguiar products to detail the car 4-5x a year with touch-ups in between.

It drives my significant other crazy. : )

Thanks, Playa. Yeah I saw pics of your RSX (mad props)...phat ride man...made me shed a tear for my old car.

Yesterday I went to the mall with my significant other in the new IS....parked in the very last spot to my girl's dismay...she said, and I quote, "We could have just parked at home and walked if you're going to park this freakin far." To that I replied, "Hey! Be thankful you have legs cuzz not everyone in this world can walk."

She's going to hate me because of this car...hahaha...oh well.
