yeah it was the brush kit. The trick is go buy a better brush from like lowes, home depot, etc. Not to mention the prep work by sanding/cleaning all surfaces down with an wire brush.

I painted them on my previous car and after about a year and a half it chipped a lil bit and it didnt look as good, so i had to go back and touch them up.
With the IS I painted them, then i put a clear coat engine enamel 500 F. It looks like if i painted it yesterday.

you don't have to remove the calipers to paint... i just happen to have mine off since i'm swapping calipers.

But to remove them you just remove the two mounting bolts and it should come apart. But note if you remove the brake line you will need to bleed your brakes when you reinstall it. So most people will just paint it while its on the rotor.

that's why you tape up the rotors with newspapers/plastic bags... you just really need to paint the front side since thats all you really see through the rims anyway. Unless your **** and wanna paint all sides lol

You can pretty much paint everything except the shiny parts, bleeder plug, brake line... my homemade spray rack from coat hangers.

you got a DIY for that homemade spray rack ^^^??? hahaha. jk

it seems so much easier to do it while it's on the rotors... taking the wheels off is a pita even. i couldn't handle the brakes... hahaha.

If I were to do it again, I would probably take the calipers off and spray them. Masking was not fun. Only reason why I didn't take them off was I didn't have brake fluid to top off once I bled them.

what I did was paint the bare caliper with silver header paint. After curing I laid down the decals and painted high heat engine block paint. Before full cure, pealed off the decals, silver shows through. Let cure. Paint with high heat engine block clear, two coats. Nothing to worry about peeling up or discoloring. Haven't taken pics yet, but look like what others posted, crappy phone camera. Try it, you'll like it.

huh? if you place the caliper down with the hump side facing up, isnt one of your stickers upsidedown?

On my calipers the words are are both read from the flatter non hump side as the bottom.

*this is my drivers side, passenger side has the L on the top so the words are read the same direction as you look at the caliper*
