IS350 brake replacements
I just got back from my 20k service on my 08 IS350, and the dealer says that I need to replace both front brake pads & discs. I've started to hear it when I stop so it's no big surprise, but the dealer wants just under $800 total!
Does that seem a bit high, or am I just cheap?
I want to shop around, but I want to make sure I don't get screwed on quality, either. What should I expect to pay?

Have you gotten the "dustless" TSIB brake pads done yet?
If not, the dealership will give you the brake pads and install them for free and they may possibly replace your rotors for free as well.

they are BS you...it depends on your driving habits...20k its kinda early to replace that...you need TSIB, they'll replace your brake pad or might even replace your rotor...go to another dealer, tell them that there's a lot of dust in your rims from the brake and tell them its squeking...

At 20k miles, it's pretty late to be asking for the TSIB. You can try, but be prepared for either answer. My dealer warned me from the start not to wait too long to have it done (under 5k). Otherwise, I'd seek an outside mechanic to do the job for probably half the price. Good luck.

I know the occasional dealer has hassled folks bringing it in with higher miles, but nothing in the actual TSIB suggests they have a right to.

For those that have the "dustless" brakes, did you notice any affect on the performance? One thing I love about the 350 is the incredible braking and don't really want to change that.

They will change the -feel- of the brakes though, making them less grabby, and more linear and predictable... which most would consider a good thing.

My dealer hasn't even mentioned that to me. I'll definitely call and request that. If it's a recall/warranty thing, I don't see why not.
Thanks for the heads up!
