I must of had a whack battery in my fob because I already had to change mine (I have an 08 btw, and I don't start/stop my car a lot either).

It's easy to swap out. Just take the manual key out of your fob. Get a tiny screw driver and pry open the space were your manual key would have been. The battery model is CR 1632. Good luck!

mine lasted almost 3 years exactly. build date 1/06, started getting the low battery warning sometime last month (1/09).

Wow, yours died quickly! I guess the consensus is that the key fob battery lasts about 3 years.

Thanks for the tip.

The Manual for the F says change every year. The manual for the ES is silent on the subject. I will be changing both every year.

about 16 months before it started to show any signs of wearing down...I was passing by a radioshack and bought another even though the original probably could have lasted longer.

IIRC, people seem to have more issues when the key is stored near other electronic devices (cell phones, etc).

Just replaced both of mine at 3 years. Even if you don't use the spare fob, it'll get drain too.
