Someone in Lexus Corp grows a pair and turns the IS into a the 3 killer and sets the benchmark for all sport sedans a notch or two higher.

The only reason why I got the is250 was bc it was cheaper than the is350. I was scared they wouldn't approve me for the is350.

You need a bread-and-butter car. The HS might have convinced me but I think the IS250 will stick around only because I find the HS to contain high levels of hideosity. IS250 is a good entry point into the lux/sport game and should not be thrown out. After all, how many 3-series that BMW sells are the entry level 328?

I don't know what you mean from your comment, but a lot??
Maybe not amongst enthusiasts on forums like these, but in my urban city, hell yeah.

Lol high levels of "hideosity". Agreed!

I would guess that you could see the IS350 go away and/or the manual option for the IS250 if the volumes don't support production. Volumes will depend on how the convertible versions of both cars do as well.

But I hope that all the version stay as this is the most direct competition against the Bimmers etc...

The IS250 sells well enough that I don't see why they shouldn't keep it around. The majority on the street are 250 and not 350. Some people like the looks of the IS and the refinements that come with it that they don't mind the smaller engine. Look at the camry with a 4 cylinder xle model which you would think why would they offer it since the xle is the top model for a camry yet they do why...because there's a demand for a decked out 4 cylinder camry that's why.

250 is gonna stick around cause it looks like the 350 only cheaper. The HS's looks are not for everyone even though it has great mpg. If anything I think they will offer some newer tech and increase the HP and gas mileage.

Having the multi-tiered line lets them have a volume "bargain" car and a rare performance model for extra profit with very little actual difference. I doubt that Lexus is going to give up on this strategy, perhaps the number will get bigger IS280 or something.
