So pretty much the consensus on this is that as long as your vehicle is under factory warranty, the dealership should replace the windshield rubber seal for free?

Wow, that's truly appalling. It's just shameful a dealership would sell a car like that, let alone CPO it.

Get both those addressed immediately under goodwill by your dealer, since you just recently bought the car.

Well, got the recall done. My service advisor told me that they have to order the parts and they are pretty booked for the next two weeks. So, they scheduled me to come in on the 28th and told me i would get a loaner car since it will be a two day process since the side mirror strip is peeling also. If u dont understand which part im talking about it the chrome trim around on the bottom part of the windows its covered with rubber.

What about the trim on the door? The verticle piece that runs behind each door glass, glossy black? I noticed that the vinyl overlay is starting to bubble, looks like rust creaping underneath but I was told from a friend that this was typical since the vinyl piece tends to just shrink up and start to peel. Hopefully I can get a picture up soon to see.
But has anyone noticed this or had it repaird under warranty?

I call Lexus Customer Care at 1 800 255 3987 option 3. I began to explain to them that my windshield molding was "aggressively cracking and tearing". I also explained to them that I wash my car and wax it regularly and that I have a car cover that I use everyday to protect it from the damaging UV rays. I also explained to them that I own a 1994 Dodge Duster and the trim on it looks better than this high end Lexus that I just paid top dollar for. I then went on to discuss that numerous people are having the same issue in other states. I made the point that " this is an issue with the quality of the windhshield trim that Lexus decided to purchase". The Lexus rep took note and said that he would contact my local area service technician, so that the service technician would contact my dealership.

About a week later Lexus called me, and said that "We would pay for the cost of the parts which is $225" and I would pay for the labor. Lexus said they would forward the information to the dealership and that I can come up there anytime to have it replaced.

Once again, I am out of warranty and I do not have an extended warranty.
Thanks, I'm going to do this first thing tomorrow. Much appreciated.

Just got back from the service dept and my service rep said if the car was still under warranty they would replace it but since it expired in Jan of this year, they cant do anything. Guy was kind of a douch and seemed like he didnt even want to help me. I asked how much was an oil change since Im due in about 400 miles and he just walks away. Maybe he didnt hear me but I was standing right next to him. good to hear others have gotten this problem fixed, warranty or not. I guess im just SOL. My biggest concern right now would be to file a complaint for that jerk off's definition of customer service.

Earlier in the post I believe (or in another windshield molding post) someone's posted the part numbers you need and an explanation of installation. It's easy and straightforward, and I believe the parts are inexpensive (<$150).

You could also contact your area Lexus representative and plead the case that this is a defect in materials/workmanship, and you can provide these threads as evidence.
