I'm a consultant, so I drive around a lot. This one day I pulled out of a spot where it had those wheel stoppers (a 3-34 ft long piece of gravel), and it literally almost torn half my stock lip off, omfg.
I didn't hear or feel anything going into the spot, but when I pulled out and got out to take a look, I realized there was a freakin' steal support beam sticking out of the stopper. Gawd. It totally mauled my lip. I had to punch the lip back into place, but it tore up a bit of it. sigh...now i'm compelled to buy a real front lip.

this is why i never, NEVER pull up to those curb parking lot stopper things, i always stop about 1ft away, AND never back up to them either cuz you might hit your mufflers.

Maybe a new mod would be to install a front camera like our rear lic....it could save lip lives....hymmm....got me thinking...I hate guessing how close I am to the stoppers before impact....

yeah, this is one of the prices you pay for having a car that's low and sporty... one time I was in front of this restaurant where instead of wheel stoppers they had a big tree trunk or log lying horizontally in front of the building. As I watched this woman in a 3 series pulled up and crunched the front bumper right into the log. I watched that bumper fold right up it was painful.
this is a trick that I sometimes use when pulling up and I'm not sure if I'm too close to the curb or wheel stopper. If there's another car parked in the spot next to you and it's relatively clean/shiny, you can see the reflection of your car in it and see how much space you have left. If it's dirty or not helpful then I look to see where their side mirror is positioned and if that car's too close or over the stopper I don't pull up as far up. But usually when in doubt, I've learned to stay back a foot or two.
If you're really paranoid, you're already parking all the way in the back of the lot, backed in and taking up 2 spaces.

When I had my RSX w/ a full bodykit on, I used to park a distance away from the wheel stoppers. But the IS is much longer and for some odd reason, I can't seem to gauge how far I am from the stoppers. I should use the cars I'm pulling into as a gauge to see how far I am from those God forbidden stoppers.
