2008 IS350 Engine Whining Noise
#22
I have the same issue and mine is an 08 with a little over 8k. When u accelerate you hear a wine almost like aN electric go kart noise. I just tried to get it out of my head and think of it as normal but not anymore after reading this. I will probably pay a visit to my dealership and see what they Have to say.

I think this issue is for the late model year 07 and all 2008 IS350 ONLY! I just drove in a buddy's 06' 350 and it was quiet! I was also in a 2010 350 few weeks ago and also did not hear it.
I know when I take it to my dealership they are gonna say its "normal" and can just hear the words out of their mouth already... just want to confirm with more 08' 350 owners before i waste my time there.

I have an 06 IS350 and mine developed a whine about 10K miles ago. Having always worked on my cars the first thought was why the f* is the altenator going out. So I took it to my dealership...due to warranty work being free...That's when I find out that the noise is indeed from the timing chain. At least that's where mine is coming from. NOW IF MY ALTERNATOR GOES BAD SOON I'M GONNA BE PISSED

ALso want to note that I took an '10 is250 today as a loaner and wow, now I want to go back to stock rims and springs. My buttocks were so comfortable over every bump and turn. It was like sitting on a pillow filled with down from special geese in Japan that was bred solely for the purpose of comforting your derriere.
ALso, the new navi system is pretty awesome. Just more options as to your preference and custom views. They also have a new color scheme.

mine is still whining bad and it doesnt stop after the engine warms up. But it seems to be a common thing and no one is having any major engine issues yet with it? as much as it bothers me I guess it will keep makin the noise. The dealer is not fixing the issue so its a waste of time.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have noticed the same whining noise that goes away after the engine warms up. I hear it as i accelerate until the RPM reaches 3000. Anyone else experiencing this whining noise? The dealer says it's normal.

Sorry to piggyback on this thread, since my issue is somewhat the opposite...
My '08 IS350 currently has about 57K miles, and recently (probably within the past three months), I've been hearing this clicking noise from underneath the hood when I start my car back up again after having driven for a while (especially under hard acceleration), temp reached the norm, shuts off, wait for maybe 15-20min, and turn back on again. It's a pretty pronouced noise, and it lasts about half of a second, however, it doesn't happen every time...it does not happen at all from cold start, and it does not happen if I shut off the car and turn back on immediately either. I took it to the dealership, and of course, the noise could not be re-produced...
This clicking noise went away for few weeks right after I got my oil change/55K service done (not at the dealership). After driving for about 2,500 miles, the noise came back last week, but this time around it happens less frequently.
I don't think this problem has had any noticeable impact on acceleration etc, I don't hear it when I drive, but only during the situation described above. I think someone had responded in earlier posts that it could be the radiator, which makes it think that it could be the case since it ONLY happens when the car's temp reaches norm, and the temp in TX is in the high 90s...has any one experienced something similar and knows of a solution to this?
Thanks for the help in advance!!
